Student Honorees:

Prior to the Ceremony

We are requesting that all honorees have a professional photograph taken for the Honors Convocation ceremony. Photographs of honored students will be displayed during the ceremony and/or reception.  

Student honorees who plan on attending the ceremony may stop in to have their photograph taken on the following dates:

Pittsburgh campus:
J.W. Connolly Ballroom, Alumni Hall
Monday, February 13, 11 a.m.–2 p.m.
Tuesday, February 14, 11 a.m.–2 p.m.

Bradford campus:
Bradford campus: All honored students will be contacted by
the Office of Communications and Marketing to schedule an
appointment.

Greensburg campus:
Lynch Hall
Monday, February 13

Day of the Ceremony

  • Please arrive at the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh Music Hall, 4400 Forbes Avenue, by 2:30 p.m. on Friday, February 24.  The ceremony will begin at 3 p.m..
  • Student honorees should remain in the Music Hall foyer to line up for the student honoree procession. Family members and guests should enter and be seated in the Music Hall.
  • Student honorees should wear the enclosed ribbon on the left side of their lapels.
  • At the ceremony, you will receive a University of Pittsburgh pin that was designed for this occasion. It is hoped that you will wear this pin in years to come to remind you of the honor you brought to your alma mater.
  • During the ceremony, you will be asked to stand with other academic or honorary fraternity awardees. Your name—although not announced during the ceremony—will appear in the printed program. Additional copies of the program will be available in the Office of Special Events, 1200 Bruce Hall, following the ceremony.
  • The convocation is open to the public, and your family is encouraged to attend. The celebration of all honored students continues with a reception immediately following the ceremony in the Commons Room in the Cathedral of Learning. No tickets are necessary.
  • If you have a disability and require special accommodations in order to fully participate in the ceremony, please advise the Office of Special Events at 412-624-7100. We ask for your cooperation in notifying us as soon as possible.

Faculty Honorees

Prior to the Ceremony

RSVP for Honors Convocation by e-mailing spevents@pitt.edu.  During the ceremony, photographs of honored faculty members who attend will be displayed during the ceremony and/or reception. If you accept this invitation and permit the Office of Special Events to use your photograph, please attach it to your e-mail response. (If you do not have a professional photograph and would like to have one taken, please indicate that in your e-mail response and our office will contact you.)

Day of the Ceremony

  • Please arrive at the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh Music Hall, 4400 Forbes Avenue, by 2:30 p.m. on Friday, February 24. The ceremony begins at 3 p.m.
  • Faculty honorees should wear the enclosed ribbon on the left side of their lapels.
  • Faculty members who wish to participate in the academic procession should enter the Music Hall through the exterior door marked “faculty.” Faculty members will assemble for the procession in the lower level of the music hall. Personal items left in this area will be guarded during the ceremony. Regalia is required to participate in the academic procession.
  • Faculty who do not wish to participate in the academic procession may enter and be seated within the Music Hall. There is no reserved seating for faculty who do not process.
  • During the ceremony, all honored faculty will be recognized as a group, not individually. Your name—although not announced during the ceremony—will appear in the printed program.  Additional copies of the program will be available in the Office of Special Events, 1200 Bruce Hall, following the ceremony.
